Simrell Stinger

The Simrell Stinger is a high-end condenser for Dynavaps.
In this video, we will take a closer look at how it works and its parts. We will talk about the pros and cons, compare the steam quality with that of a Dynavap condenser and ask whether the investment, which is not exactly insignificant, is worth it.

The Stinger is an accessory, or rather a tuning part for a Dynavap. You need a vapcap to operate it. It doesn't matter which Dynavap you own. The Stinger is compatible with all stems from Dynavap.

The Stinger was developed by Austyn Simrell in the USA and is also manufactured there. His company, the Simrell Collection, is known in the Dynavap community for the Vortex and the MVS Stems. These are considered to be among the best stems available for Dynavaps. If you are still unfamiliar with the man and his shop, I can only warmly recommend his Instagram account. He creates true works of art from wood and titanium with his stems.

Now for the Stinger. It replaces the original condenser in every conceivable Dynavap. It is telescopic and can fit into stems with a length of 45 - 62mm. Unlike the Omni condenser, it can be used with either the stainless steel or titanium tip.

If we take it apart, we see that the Stinger consists of three components. Firstly, there is the condenser tube - then the mouthpiece and last but not least the intercooler. The intercooler is primarily the part that gives the vapour in the Simrell devices that special touch.

The vapour is swirled by the helix shape of this component on the one hand and on the other hand it is sent on a much longer path through the condenser tube to the mouthpiece. Since the intercooler is made of titanium, it has a very high thermal conductivity and is thus able to extract a large part of its heat from the vapour.

This effect is truly immense! The Stinger as a unit cools the vapour not only noticeably but excellently!
In addition, there is also a swirling effect that is not to be despised in its effect. If you pull on it and feel it carefully, you will notice a frrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, turning of the steam jet all the time. In my opinion, the combination of these two effects is what makes the brilliance of the Simrell devices.
We in the Rhineland would describe the effect of this and probably other Simrell devices that contain a Vortex Intecooler as follows: "Before you've even noticed it, the thing has screwed the steam all the way down your throat!"

If you go to forums like Redit or Fuck Combustion, the question "Omni Kondenser vs Stinger" or Omni vs MVS is often discussed. Which leads to the question, which system is better?

My opinion on this is that I don't want to put one of the devices down as the better one. They are just very different and give a Dynavap completely different steam signals. Both have their right to exist.

The Simrell undoubtedly produces the cooler vapour and can thus satisfy the desire for powerful, flavourful puffs. On the other hand, it is not always necessarily true that the cooler vapour is better for every occasion. For example, as someone who comes from a smoking background, I love the temperature of the Omni vapour when I use it completely screwed down as an MTL device.

My conclusion on the Simrell Stinger:

First of all, let's look at the cons: For me, there's only one thing: The price - 90 euros is no mean feat and I also thought long and hard about whether I should treat myself to it.

BUT! the pros:

With its telescopic function, this little thing turns every Dynavap into a first-class vape. If you already have a few Dynavaps at home, you can use the Stinger on any of your devices.

The vapour signature is brilliant, tasty, smooth and fluffy. On the exhale, you can marvel at the cloud size, which you wouldn't expect from inhaling.

It fits directly into any 10mm water filter connection. If you use an adapter, like I did here, you should make sure that it is not sanded on the inside, otherwise it will scratch your good piece. In case of doubt, just use the good old Dynavap snap, then nothing will happen to your good piece.

So, would I advise you to buy? Let's put it this way, if you've had your eye on the Stinger for a while anyway, if you're enthusiastic about Dynavaps and want to get the last bit of performance and flavour out of your vapcap, if you count yourself among the gourmets and are into the finest design with the finest function, then go for it, you certainly won't be disappointed!
